A Night Spent under the stars in JEBEL JAIS

  UAEs most authentic destination, RAS AL KHAIMAH, THE JEBAL JAIS

Hey all... this is my first ever travel experience to the mountains in the eastern part of the emirate, THE JABEL JAIS which is 2000 metres above the sea level formed over 70 million years ago. I am not explaining geographically much to get you bored in my blog. yes, these are quite old giant beautiful mountains.

As the weekend arrives there is an interesting routine for us to plan short trips. So this time I was waiting to do something different. I thought to have a potluck dinner with my family as my husband always have shift duties and never get a chance to be with my relatives. There came a suggestion to go a long drive to RAS AL KHAIMA, THE JABEL JAIS. I always wanted to go there but I heard traveling long through hilly mountains with a kid is a bit risky. So this time it was all in favor of me that we got my own family together to go there.

On December 17th, 2018 we all set in three cars to the top giant mountain in RAS AL KHAIMA and we reached there around evening time. The journey was very enjoyable as we had our own blood relations. It was too long that it crossed our plan timing. I was all worried that I can't get my pictures well as it was already the sunset time. We planned well that we could reach there before sunset, enjoy the view and get back from there the same night as the weather was too cold, and we were having many kids with us. So when we reached the top peak it was around eight 'o' clock and we were all tired there. All were planning to get down... back from the mountains and reach home as it was already late. I didn't want to go back late night because I couldn't see the beautiful sunset view and the most, I wanted my picture with a mountainous background. 

All were busy getting off the car and wearing their jackets as the weather was getting cool timely. I could only see darkness everywhere... disappointed and couldn't convince everybody to stay there a night, to see the sunrise view the next morning so that at least it was worth going there. My husband felt my mood, he told me that they even are thinking to stay that night and leave the place early morning with kids as it was not good to drive back down the hills late night. We opened a small tent and a sheet on the ground for the kids to play comfortably. The temperature was striking lower and lower to around 12'C.

Soon we were all hungry and preparing to eat whatever we cooked and took there...  The food was getting dry because of the cold temperature, Each family had cooked different special foods that all got empty at a time. We played games and clicked some pictures in flash mode and enjoyed there. It was getting cold that all started sitting inside the tents and we had some blankets to wrap around us and kids.

We set a campfire and had tea to beat the chilled climate. All were sleepy and couldn't move a step as the climate was getting worse... it was difficult for me that my kid started crying as the cold climate was getting into our souls. I couldn't manage inside the small tent with everybody and took my son to the car to make him asleep. We just cuddled each other and started to pretend sleep as we were trembling with cold. A little later my baby was asleep and it was my time to sigh comfortably... I could see everyone shivering and difficulty to speak,  "hohoho... ho... hohhohohh..."  this was the only communicable word among us at that time... My husband took me out of the car and showed up the sky. I was blank that it was the most peaceful thing I saw in my life thus far.

Its a beautiful experience watching the sky at night. The sky was clear, not a cloud to be found anywhere...it was all a mixture of dark midnight blues and purple. All swirled together to make beautiful contrasting lights and darks of the night sky. The stars were sparkling and gorgeous that decorated the sky all over. It almost looked as if someone took a handful of glitter and just threw it up to the sky. The moon even accented the sky perfectly. I think sitting and watching skyzit is the most beautiful scenery ever. I found me to be so lucky to sleep under the stars, moon and black night, its the best live scenery ever for a human being on earth. 

I found that night to be soo adventurous to sleep under this decorated sky with around 6'c chilled weather. God is so creative that he built a complete nature, a true eternal beauty to infinity.

 We had a short sleep and woke soon to pray our midnight prayer to thank God for showing this amazing view.. we had to do ablution, a small purifying procedure to pray. It was all a small caravan toilet and the lights were off. I went slowly with fear and realized they had automatic sensor lights... and the water came like refrigerated cold water, I just dabbed water slowly shivering and ran back to the car. It was a different environment of prayer above the top lying mountains.

 Now it was near to the sunrise view. we were all set ready with our camera in hands. Once the sun hit us, we clicked pictures from every angle that the mountains were getting colored to pink, red and orange as the suns light emerged. it was all our time to pack up and we drove back home ewnjoying the view through the valleys.

 

I must say the drive to the mountain top is so Marvel and all we can do is soak in the rock beauty and natural creation. On reaching the top, a cup of tea or corn is a must. It is best to visit during winter to experience the extreme cold and snowfall. There is a zip line for interested adventurous people. In fact THE JEBEL JAIS a must-try destination in UAE.
