BUTTERFLY CHICKEN

A lip smacking recipe recommended by my dear mom in law, which is made from a fusion of chicken and potato served as a starter or as a snack along with mayonnaise.



As a daily routine of mine, I hang up a lot calling my family and share my stories with them. So, there came a trouble for me of my son starving. he was not interested in anything to put in his mouth even in hunger. my mom in law came with a suggestion, "hey try the butterfly chicken". And my son enjoyed it.

It is a tasty and nutritious non-vegetarian meal that's quick and a whole family pleaser. The pickiest of eaters will gobble up this item and any item with chicken is the favorite of all beyond belief! enjoy.

Cook time: 16-20 minutes

Serves : 4

Ingredients for Butterfly Chicken Recipe

Boneless chicken cut into 1 inch pieces 300 grams

Medium potatoes cut into thin slices 2

Ginger-garlic paste 1 tablespoon

Salt to taste

Crushed black peppercorns to taste

Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon

Carom and cumin seeds crushed

Soya sauce 1 teaspoon

Red chilli sauce 1 teaspoon

Lime juice 1 lemon

Butter 1 tablespoon

Cornflour/ corn starch 3 tablespoons

All purpose flour (maida) 3 tablespoons

Oil to deep fry


Method

Step 1
Put chicken pieces in a bowl. Add ginger-garlic paste, salt, crushed peppercorns, chilli powder, carom and cumin seeds crushed, soy sauce, red chilli sauce, lemon juice, and butter and mix well. Add cornflour and all purpose flour, mix well and set aside to marinate for a minimum of 2 hours.






Step 2
Keep the marinated chicken in the centre of each potato slice, bring two opposite sides together and pass a toothpick through the potato slice and the chicken piece to make butterflies.





Step 3
Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Deep fry these butterflies till golden brown. Drain on an absorbent paper.


Step 4
Serve it hot or you can have mayonnaise with it.
